Children’s Health Priorities
Molina Healthcare cares about children’s health. Most of the people we serve are under the age of 18. For these children, programs like Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) are critical to them in starting and maintaining a healthy life.
At Molina Healthcare, we know that children’s health starts with a healthy pregnancy. Therefore, we work to ensure that all our members receive prenatal care. Unfortunately, many women who are eligible for free prenatal care through government programs are not receiving these necessary services because of a lack of outreach and education about the available programs, as well as insufficient funding. This puts many women at risk of pre-term births and newborns at risk of chronic conditions that could have been prevented.
We have a responsibility, as Americans, to provide healthcare for our most vulnerable citizens – our children. The mission of Molina Healthcare, Inc. is to promote health and provide health services to families and individuals who are lower income and covered by government programs. Millions of the uninsured children are eligible for Medicaid or SCHIP but remain unenrolled.
Policies to streamline enrollment for children and expecting mothers should be implemented to allow these individuals to access care through programs they are currently eligible for.
