Health Information Technology

On February 17, 2009, the Obama Administration signed in to law the economic stimulus package otherwise known as the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) (PL 111-5).  ARRA included the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) which lays out electronic health record (EHR) incentives for eligible professionals and hospitals (Meaningful Use), standards and certification criteria, an HHS Certification Program, and privacy and security regulatory action.  These two pieces of legislation have propelled the medical field in the accelerated use of health information technology through a variety of grant programs and incentive programs.

Molina Healthcare continues to monitor all facets of health care reform including those advancements made in health information technology as it relates to our managed care business as well as our Medicaid management information systems business.  Below are documents used to help track activity on the federal and state level as well as Molina’s participation in shaping those activities.
